Salvatore Cristofaro’s long entrepreneurial career began in 1966 with IMAG (Industria Meridionale Acque Gassate) in Girifalco, a center on the outskirts of the Serre Catanzaresi. The activity initially involves the bottling of carbonated drinks, and despite its small size, the company is at the forefront of organization and systems, which guarantee a product of the highest level, both hygienic and organoleptic. Cristofaro, a broad-minded entrepreneur, therefore plans to make his products even better, thus starting at the beginning of the 70’s to monitor and analyze the shares of the source in the MONTE COVELLO area. The response of the analysis classifies it as OLIGOMINERAL, a really good result. At that point, the first authorizations are requested, and the small plots of land in the area, owned by the farmers of the area, are also purchased. In 1982 the production of the first body of the factory began in the current settlement of Monte Covello, and then the first bottling line was started; at the same time, the construction of a significant expansion of the plant began with the introduction of innovative techniques. Then the programming of another fully automated production line also begins, also integrated with the production of the PET bottle; in 1992, therefore, a totally renewed and technologically advanced company came into operation. The entire vehicle fleet is also being renovated. In 1995 the construction of a new structure of over 2 thousand square meters began with the activation of a new production line (15 thousand bottles / hour) with the latest technological innovation for the production and bottling in PET, starting directly from the polymer. The company then expands its market to Puglia, Campania and Sicily and also begins to be present on foreign markets: Canada, the United States and Australia, with very respectable results.
Today ACQUA CALABRIA, also in demand in China, has 24 employees and is led by CESARE CRISTOFARO, a young entrepreneur with the same passion as his father Salvatore.
